    Underscore

This is a short little piece I wrote several years back, and recently updated a bit. It's supposed to be something that perhaps could be used as underscore in a film. Here it is realized in Finale with Garritan samples.

    Hi David,

The string pad and the gently moving piano lines gave me images of panning across beautiful scenery, green hills and rivers.

    I liked this. Nice atmosphere!

Hi, David - Very cinematic and atmospheric indeed! Meditation on a chord - effective minimalism that would add mood to a scene in a movie, without drawing too much attention to itself, in the manner of a well done soundtrack.

Do you have more like this? I'd like to hear.

    Hi, David,

You've made me long for more. The building up expects more... With very little means, you succeeded in creating a whole world of fantasy without forcing the music to the foreground. Here's the perfect tune for a film!

    Re: Underscore

Thank you, your comments are much appreciated. This is piece is actually a divergence from what I normally do. I usually prefer large symphonic orchestration.. I originally wrote the main harp motive in a time of emotional turbulence. I felt kind of lost and wanted to reflect it with this music. I thought that emotion would fit perfectly in a short film score cue like piece. I don't have anything else like this per se, but I'll be happy to share when I'm inspired to do more.

An individual on another forum brought up some critique about the reverb in this recording. I've tried to adjust it and I'm curious as to anyone's thoughts on the subject. Here's the new recording with a bit different reverb.

It's a pity that we can't hear the original anymore. It would be easier to compare. It sounds OK to me.

I agree with Yjoh on this. The first thing that I thought of was a soaring view of the green mountains in Vermont while film credits display in subtle way on the screen. Your music creates a nice gentle feel.

The second version has definitely more presence. It's almost mysterious and thrilling (or intriguing would be a better choice of word).
