ouch. Can you track them down? These type of people need to be dragged through all music industry media and so the entire business can start to get an idea that it just ain\'t cool to pirate and steal! I may not have all the samples I want, but by golly they\'re legal!!!

<font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">This group are located in Kaliningrad where it\'s very hard to get cooperation from the authorities, (wonder why...). We are working together with some people that are tracking down thieves, and in this case I know that they actually got the name and adress to the person that was registred as owner of their homepage. I doubt that this person had anything to do with the actual group, and when the athourities where contacted, the simply wouldn\'t cooperate.
I heard from the people that worked with us on this that it\'s not unusual that organized crime is behind these groups and that they have more then selling stolen sample CD\'s in their reportoar. Things like prostitution, child pornography and drugdealing is also something that these scumbags and lowlifes are making money on.

So, when someone buys stolen samples it\'s a pretty good chanse that they also support drugdealing and childmolesting!
Think about that for a moment.....

This is just one of many. There are also a lot of people selling copies of sample CD\'s via advertisement-sites.

So, when someone buys stolen samples it\'s a pretty good chanse that they also support drugdealing and childmolesting!

And when you pay your taxes you\'re supporting murder.

Worra, as you suggested, I thought about it for a moment. Do you really think that organized crime would import hard drives, procure all those samples, copy everything again and again then sell it all for $500 (including shipping - sweet deal)? Isn\'t drug dealing a pretty high margin activity? How big do you think the \'drug\' market is compared to sample CDs? Why would organized crime get involved in such a dimwit, chump-change venture? How many people would be crazy enough to send $500 to Kalingrad? Don\'t you think it sounds like a scam? Maybe they\'ll get five or six loonies sending their cash but I think you\'re over reacting a little.

I doubt that any and all people involved in sample piracy, by default, would be willing to get involved in child prostitution, and I\'d guess that people involved in child prostitution would never bother with sample piracy.

This is just like those stupid ads that say if you smoke a joint you\'re supporting terrorism.

Stop the pirates - but take it easy, man. Pirates are thieves, but that doesn\'t make them monsters. I hope the authorites in Russia keep their perspective and catch the child molesters of which you speak: forget the piracy; it\'s irrelevant if these people are involved in child prostitution.

I\'ve got lung cancer with three weeks to live; but what really gets my goat is this stupid spot on the end of my nose!

<font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">When I pay taxes I don\'t pay it to an organisation that is 100% into illegal activities, at least not in Sweden where I live.
I\'m only telling you what I\'ve learned from people that work with these crimes. Personally, I haven\'t any direct experience with the activities that might, or might not be a part of their reportoar.
Some of the setups are simply to big to be runned by some spotty teenage hacker from the basement of his parents house.
Some of these groups, not all, ARE runned by organized crime syndicates.
Does these guys draw the line on what they choose to get involved with anywhere? Prostitution? Drugs? Childporography?
I don\'t know, who does.

Re: Thieves - Not Pirates

You know, you developers need to 100% STOP metioning anything about piracy in forums like this. You should organize a private forum somewhere and THERE you can all debate your piracy horror stories.

All this does is make newcomers aware of pirating. I mean there are several libraries like EW Orchestra coming out for 1000\'s of dollars (for the whole thing) and in the same forum we can read about a hard drive for $500.00 loaded with FULL sample cd\'s?

And then you get the post after post from other users who say \"yah, there\'s links all over the internet where you can download free or purchase cheap illegal copies of sample cd\'s\".

Hey, I\'m 100% LEGAL in all of my libraries but a newbie could be lead to \"The Dark Side\" fairly easy when they understand and read just how easy it would be to aquire stolen/illegal sample cd\'s if they wanted to.

Just my worthless 2 cents...

Re: Thieves - Not Pirates

I think its good for newcomers to realise piracy hurts real people. If developers have no face, its easy to feel fine about pirating. The best thing we can do is make them understand that piracy hinders development and that it\'s not in their interest at the end of the day.

Worra, I do think it is a bit much for you to bring child pornography into this discussion.

This is just the GigaSample version of the Nigerian \"I\'m a government official....help me get 50 million out of the country and I\'ll give you half\" scam. If anyone wants to throw 500 dollars away, give it to a homeless shelter
