Aria 1.111 with Authorized Steinway Pro, Mac OS Logic Pro. Aria not seeing GAS

    Hi,

I moved my GAS on my mac snow leopard system onto an SSD drive using the Steinway Sample Manager. Then I downloaded and installed the latest Aria player/engine. Now Aria comes up "empty" not finding the GAS. When I try to use "load" from within Aria, it won't accept a folder or recognize .audio files as loadable.

I'm trying to make Garritan Authorized Steinway work under Logic 9 Pro. I have Kontakt 4 player, Play player, VSL player, etc.

After more research, it seems the GAS is not longer being sold. It is listed as "Sold Out" on the website.

    The page
    http://www.garritan.com/store/shop/p...sional-versio/

has no way to allow registration or downloads of activation cards.

The main video explaining registration and authorization at :

    http://www.garritan.com/instructions.html

instructs people to go to the garritan.biz site, log in, the go to "Downloads and Registration" tab. However on that page ( http://www.garritan.com/store ) there is no "Downloads and Registration" tab. If one goes to the Registration "button" you are taken to a menu where the GAS is basically disabled due to being sold out, so if you have already purchased it, you are stuck, unable to activate or otherwise manage your licenses.

Please help, I cannot use Aria or GAS at this point.

    Kind Regards,
    Michael

Have you tried e-mailing support@garritan.com about your problem? Since online registration of GAS Pro is disabled, Garritan support should have an alternate way of activating your registration. I'd be shocked if they don't.

    Steve,

Thanks for your thought! Yes I've emailed them and also left phone messages, with no response.

An update, under Logic 9 Pro, the GAS -specific aria player comes up when choosing a Garritan Steinway "AU", but the new 1.111 Aria player comes up (empty) when choosing Aria.
If I choose the GAS AU, it comes up and allows me to load a perspective, but the immediately crashes the 32bit audio bridge.

    Hi Michael,

If you already registered Steinway, you still have access to your keycard at www.garritan.com following the 'Activation Keys' link in the 'Product Registration' on the right side of the home page.

It will then work just like in the video. You will also get the Keycard via email like the first time you registered, maybe you still have the old one. It would still work.

Is the standalone version works ok?

The standalone Aria player (1.111) is still labelled Garritan ARIA Player when it comes up. It says "Ensemble" in the main pull down menu. I pull it down and choose load, but no matter what I choose it does not recognize the file type.

I was able to use my old image of the keycard to activate the GAS specific player and now it comes up as a plugin under Logic, but once I load a perspective it immediately crashes the 32 bit audio bridge.

What about The Steinway B standalone? Do you have the v1.04 update? It should be available through your account on garritan.com (downloads).

The ARIA Player doesn't supersede the Steinway player. You don't really need it unless you have other Garritan products such as GPO4 or JABB3.

I tried Steinway D AU 1.04 (with the ARIA engine 1.1.1.1 that you already have) in Logic 9.1.5 64bit (brigded) and can't make it crash.

    Hi Michael,
I left a message and emailed, so with any luck we'll be able to work out the problem.
Just FYI, you can still get your activation keycard for the Pro version. I think the registration button you saw was just confusing things.
If you need to register or to get an activation keycard, log in to your account and press the My Account tab at the top. The page that comes up lets you enter a serial number to register if you haven't already registered, and there is a sub-tab at top for Activation Keycard (or you could instead press the Get Activation Keycard button on the page).

Re: Aria 1.111 with Authorized Steinway Pro, Mac OS Logic Pro. Aria not seeing GAS

Jeff Hurchalla helped cure this problem. The process involved manually de-installing GAS:
    - Delete Library->Preferences->com.Garritan.Steinway.plist
    - Delete User->{your user name}->
    Library->Preferences->com.Garritan.SteinwaySA.plist and SM.plist
    - Don't delete the other Garritan or ARIA plist files
Reinstall GAS player by downloading the 1.04 GAS package and installing it:
    - must re-enter serial number from inside cover of DVD/manual folder
    - download .png activation card from garritan.com->My Account->Activation Keycards
    - run the GAS standalone player from Applications->Garritan Steinway
    - drag .png onto the GAS player to re-activate
Run the Sample Manager from Applications->Garritan Steinway
    - Select "locate" from the pull down menu for the first perspective
    - Navigate to where your samples are
    - Select Yes to have the rest of the perspectives found there too
    - Click Apply (sample manager loads all the perspectives)
Run the GAS standalone player again, load a perspective and verify it plays
Verify the AU is installed in Library->Audio->Plug-Ins->Components
    - You can also note the Library->Preferences->com.Garritan.Steinway.plist is recreated
Go to Applications and find Logic (not Logic 9.0 if you have that, and not Logic Node)
    - CTL-click on Logic (or right click) and select Get Info
    - Check the box for run in 32 bit mode
    - Run Logic. It will rescan and find the AU installed.
Note you cannot currently get Logic 9.1.x to rescan the AU's to find new or reinstalled AUs in 64 bit mode.
    - Quit Logic.
    - un-check the box for run in 32 bit mode in the Logic 9 Get Info window

The above worked great and I'm up and running with GAS again under Logic.
FYI the 1.111 ARIA player is a 64 bit player, while GAS is a 32 bit player, so Garritan will show up in both AU Instruments and (32 bit). For some reason the ARIA 1.111 will not load the GAS samples. It can be used for GPO4. Apparently for older GPO libs, Kontakt is still used.

    Thanks Jeff!
