    Accolade-Original Instrumental

    Accolade-Original Instrumental by John Bowen

Used Garritan JABB3 for most of the instrumentation. LOVE that program! Well worth the money.

Female choir by Miroslav Philharmonik (Competition, I know. Forgive me).

Guitar work by Marc Halikas playing the real thing.

    Enjoy!

I guitar is very nice and "crisp"... good recording and mixing....

Nice work - respect the restraint on the choir... very soothing...

    Enjoyed!

Thanks Mike! I knew you'd be a good sport about it. Truth is I have Garritan POCKET orchestra which doesn't have a choir sound, which I really wanted for this piece. I bought Miroslav for a mere $15.00 back in March. The string ensembles in Garritan are still better.

I liked the music much, though I couldn't recognize the wind instrument... Did you just notate that or played live?
For a choir effect I would consider using Clone Ensemble. For a demonstration see my video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh_Nb4hrNII

    Thanks briff!
The winds were from Garritan Jazz & Big Band 3. I used Soprano sax and Flugelhorn together.

Oh, that's why I didn't recognize, they were too much together, playing exactly the same from the same place.

Hi, John - I was lucky enough just now to find another one from you I hadn't heard yet.

This has a really pleasant air to it, a cheerful breeziness which I found infectious. Your friend Marc's guitar sounds great with your bed of instruments and choir.

Interesting that you blended a Soprano Sax and Flugelhorn together - I mostly heard the Flugel, but there was an unknown quality to it, achieved with that blending.

Did you know that those instruments have a controllable vibrato? Aftertouch, which you can draw in via your program's MIDI editor, if you don't have AT available on your keyboard. And CC17 controls the speed of the vibrato. I don't know if you would've liked to have vibrato in this recording, but the Flugel sounds very nice with a judicious amount of vibrato coming in on the longer notes, after the tone is established.

    Thanks for the fun music!
