    Band Trip

The Lisle, Illinois High School Band Parents Organization and the Lisle Community Band commissioned me to write a piece for the symphonic band dedicated to Mr. Steven Green, the director, on the occasion of his retiring after 33 years of teaching.

The piece is entitled Band Trip and premiered a few nights ago. It was well received and will soon be published by C. Alan Publications.

Click here to listen to a recording of my demo created mainly with Garritan GPO, JABB, and Virtual Drumline with a few other things thrown in.

    All comments appreciated.

    Chip,

I loved this! I especially liked the comical 3/4 section half way through. I hope the Lisle community band knows how lucky they are to have you write this for them. Good job.

I think this is a great little piece. The contrasts of lively and somber periods really worked for me. The melodies were very distinctive and developed nicely. I always look for personality and character in a piece of music, and this tribute has plenty of that. I very much enjoyed this.
    Thanks for sharing.

    OUTSTANDING!!!

I hear a movie theme or TV show theme...National Reberclark's Band Trip, anyone?

Very tuneful, challenging for the players, I'm sure, and contains the humor I would expect from you.
May you sell a million copies!!

Thanks everybody for the wonderful comments! Snor - the piece is actually easier to play than it sounds. Thanks again all!

A Reberclark piece I'm only just now discovering - OH my yes this is incredibly fun music. And the demo sounds super, Chip.

I'm still listening as I type - There's a second link--That would be to a live recording of the piece? GUess I could have tried it before I started writing - but I've been so swept up in this excellent piece, got excited and had to start writing. 8-)

Amazing stuff, Chip - Sure glad I finally found it!

    Re: Band Trip

Chip - quite impressive - My only gripe here is that the mix is a bit thin on the low end which flattens the sound of the piece somewhat. This would make it really come to life even more.

    Well done!

Liked this a lot! Very clean rendering - makes it easy to imagine how it will sound with a live band. Great work.
