    World Library and USB EWI

I've been playing around with the winds in the new World Library using my USB EWI and it's fantastic. Lotsa fun. The wind controller programming was well thought through. Thanks Gary & Co.!

It was great to see that the EWI ARIA engine was updated to v1.111 as well.

Thanks for posting this reberclark. I was wondering how much EWI support there would be in this library.

    Hi

EWI-USB and ARIA Player v1.111 users should get this update in order to get your "EWI Configuration" window working again

Re: World Library and USB EWI

    David,

I didn't notice my config. had a problem (though I haven't played with it yet). The EWI USB reports ARIA engine 1.111 and AKAI EWI USB v1005.

Do I need to uninstall the previous AKAI EWI USB standalone?

EDIT: On trying to install these two files (EWI USB.exe / EWI USB_x64.exe) I get the error that they can't be installed because portaudio_x86.dll is not installed on my computer. Same message for portaudio_x64.dll.

Should I just copy the new .exes to the AKAI folder to overwrite? Help.

EDIT: Nevermind. If I had read your directions I would have understood to just overwrite the previous .exes. Thanks for your patience!

[bump] somebody was looking for this thread so I bumped it up!

Yes the EWI USB support in World seems to be fairly good. I am no EWI expert by any means, but It seems pretty fun to play with right now!

Re: World Library and USB EWI

Just thought I'd mention that I have tried World with the EWI 4000s as well and breath control works fine for expressive instruments (winds and sustain strings) without the need for the user to take extra steps to activate cc#02. These instruments in World have cc#01, cc#02, and cc#11 simultaneously active for volume/timbre - remember, only use one of these controllers at a time! Be sure to also try auto-legato to help with articulations.

I think I'll ask Santa for an EWI this year!

Yes. The WX5 uses CC#2 for breath control which is already recognized by wind and sustained string instruments.
