Another fine piece of work on the writing and arranging
in this, JB. The clean, clear space and unabashed
simplicity of songs like this is something I find very
appealing.
The one area I'd perhaps suggest a little more attention
is the held soft cymbal rolls, which, to me, carry too
long and seem a bit awkward. Maybe try breaking those
up a little, and modulating the dynamics in waves to
emphasize cadence?
All the best,
David

Hi David! Thanks for the feedback. I'm afraid I'm lost in the terminology here. I must say I really don't know what the "soft cymbal rolls" would be. There are no cymbals used here. No percussion at all. Could you please clarify what sound you are referring to and at what point in time? Might you be referring to the "Christmas Bells" that show up in the chorus that are panned hard right?

Roughly 2:31-2:58; more or less center-right.
My ears aren't the greatest sometimes, John;
Earlier I was listening at low volume on the JBL's,
and would have sworn they were soft cymbal
rolls -- but actually, on headphones now, I think
they're high strings, well back in the mix.
(One of the hazards of age is the high end of
your hearing gets flaky -- which makes mixing
a real challenge... rofl.)
More I hear the tune, more I like it, by the way.
Best,
David
