    Entho Dilemma

I posted about Ethno World - asking about playability and usefulness and have received mixed reviews.

    I am looking for:

    Irish Flute & Fiddle(mornful).

    Native American Flute (sad).

    Soft fingered acoustic guitar (beautiful)

    Bag Pies (Braveheart).

    Hand drums (scary).

    Etc.

Ethno offers a lot of sound for the money but I hear rumors about its expressiveness.

QL rare Inst. Out of price range at the moment.

Ethnic Instruments...in price range but there is no demo or word as to when available
    (...reply Mr. Donnie

    Any suggestions.

PS. Not interested in Asian sounds. I am working on a production about the Irish during the Civil War.

    Re: Entho Dilemma

As is in most cases, the sounds you are looking for come on different CDs. There is a few flute phrases on Ethno World, don\'t think they\'re native american though (very whistly sounding), so your best bet would be to go with the Native America CD that Nemesys has on their website.
No fiddle sounds on Ethno World either.
The only guitar sounds on Ethno World are a Japanese Falcon guitar which I wouldn\'t describe as \'soft and beautiful\'. More cold and steril. There is also a ContraGuitar from Germany which is decent for acoustic bass guitar but not anything to write home about.
I would definitely go elsewhere for guitar sounds. Hans Zimmer Guitars 2 has a nice soft acoustic called Collings and some nice nylon as well. Pure Guitars demo sounds very good also and very reasonably priced I must say!
As for irish sounds, I have to say Nicks \"Rare Instruments\" has some great sounding bagpipes and low whistles. I know it\'s out your price range like you said, but I just thought I\'d mention it. (It\'s out of my price range as well )
There is also a CD out on Big Fish Audios website called Celtic Instruments. I haven\'t read any reviews or heard a demo though.
If there is one thing Ethno World does have alot of, it\'s hand drums. The tablas aren\'t very good though. It comes with Derbukas, Darabukas, iran bongos, ceremony drum, tambourine drum, small gran cassa, etc.
The irish flutes on Ethno world aren\'t bad, they just don\'t have any expressiveness to them. Nicks irish whistle sounds better IMO.
Wouldn\'t it be nice if one day us musicians could purchase samples seperately online?
    Please no flame war guys!

    Thank you for your time.

Where can I find info on Nicks Rare Inst.?
Also, I thought Pure Guitars was only loops
    and performances not multisampled?

By the way, YOU ARE SO RIGHT!! I wish we could not only buy what we NEED but send them back if they are not. IE, MiSlv Mini

    Rare Instruments demo at soundsonline.com.
Most instruments have atleast 10 articulations accessed via keyswitching.

    Nick:

As I mentioned earlier, I would love to grab
Rare Instruments or QLB for that matter but there is a small budget on this project..ETC.

I understand that Soundsonline will be relasing the PROSAMPLES version of QLB.

Can you offer any in sight as to what sounds will be featured?

Also, can the CD be read by GStudio if using
the AKAI samples? (CD contains wav, aiff & Akai)

    Thanks

    Re: Entho Dilemma

    Franz,

Pipes sound nice as well as nylon.

Do you have an mp3 of nylon playing slower and softer?

I could not find info about the two on your site... what is on each cd (full details) and what is the cost?

    Thanx
