Question no pizz in Finale 2009

I'm using Finale 2009 with GPO and am working on a piece where the basses play pizz for about 16 measures and then play arco again. When I play it back, it the "pizz" I put above the note is completely ignored, but all the other KSs work just fine. None of the staff names have been touched (aka the staff's name is still "Double Bass"). I used the pre-made KS in the expression tool called "pizz." (all I did was italicize it, which never seemed to hurt anything before). All the other trill and tremolo key-switches are working beautifully, but I'd like to know how to fix the pizz KS.

    Please and Thank You

Re: no pizz in Finale 2009

are you using the expression that has NO playback definition to it?

there are a couple of string articulation expressions, if I recall. there are at least two pizzicato, and two arco.

of those, there are some that have a playback definition (you should not use these), while the others have no playback definition (when you click on th playback tab, "none" should be in the drop down list). You need to use the expression with "none".

There's only one "pizz." and the playback definition is "none".

No, it's in bar 15 or something like that and ends about 16 bars later.

Re: no pizz in Finale 2009

This pizz business is a continuing problem with Finale strings.

Place the bass part in level 2. Give level 2 a new channel number. Select bass with pizzacatto.

Now you will have your pizzacatto.

I think you meant "layer" 2.
