how to insert key switches into a midi file?

I ask here as I don't know where to ask a probably stupid question. I have Independence Free and "KHSO Violins key switch C0". I can switch when I input midi from a keyboard. How can I switch when I play a midi file in the DAW? I have tried to put in the low keys into the midi file but that does not seem to work.

Make sure the notes you put in are for the correct channel.
I usually play mine into my recorded midi with my keyboard, but have also, often enough, added them with a pencil, in piano roll view, and they work fine, as long as your instrument can receive the note.

The midi channel that the Key Switch note is assigned to is the first thing to look at I suspect.

They were of course in the wrong channel. Somehow like my brain. Now the problem is solved.
    Thank you for your advice.
