    Arabeques - JeanJean

The "Arabeques", a work for solo clarinet and piano, was composed by Paul Jeanjean, a French clarinetist. This wonderfully expressive work features the GPO solo Bb clarinet, an instrument exactly right for this work, and the Steinway Lite as its accompanist.

Nice job on this Gary. You really got into the guts...er ...heart of this piece. Seriously, very expressive. Thanks for posting.

A freind of mine did this piece in college as part of his junior recital. I remember strains of this echoing down the hall of the practice rooms for weeks!

This was really well realized. Nice job!

Another stunning effort Gary! That Bb clarinet sounds incredible in your hands. You've inspired me to take a closer look at it. And a fine choice of composition too.

    Thanks for this one, Graham

    Another winner Gary,

'Only thing is, when I first came on the forum in January I thought your production room size to be small and dry yet now on this, it sounds like a much bigger room with both clarinet and piano at the far end. I think this piece could be a little more intimate.

    Nice,

    Scott,

Very glad that you enjoyed it and brought back good memories for you. My daughter performed it in high school for a solofest audition. And I can well remember the hours listening to her practice it and also with her private teacher. It is a wonderful piece to begin with and I hope that I did it justice here.

    Graham,

I am glad that you enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun putting into Finale and working through the details.

    Ray,

I am glad that you enjoyed the work. I don't very the setup a lot from piece to piece. Especially on similar works to the clarinet solo. I do hear differences from each production but I am not sure as to exactly why. No post processing of the work other than the Ambience which is part of the bundled Finale GPO.

Not a piece I am familiar with, I will confess; but
what exceptional writing! A great choice of material,
Gary; and quite a fine rendition, I must say!

    My best,
