fast way to assign instuments to dimensions?

I just purchased GS3 and I would like to quickly assign instruments to keyswitched dimensions. So far the only way I see of doing this is in QuickEdit, which I'm still wrapping my head around.

Is there an easy way to drag and drop instruments onto dimension key-switches?

It's easy. Stack the instruments and set the keyswitch using the stack properties.

First drag an instrument to a channel.

Next, hold CTRL and drag a second instrument to the same channel.

Now click the little pulldown arrow on the stacked instrument and select Stack Properties.

    Select "Keyswitch"

    Click "Learn"

Play the two notes for the keyswitch.

    Done!

    Thanks JonFairHurst!

Even though I am an avid manual reader and am highlighing my way through it I have a feeling this info would have been difficult to find without this forum.

Stacking wasn't in the original release. It came out with 3.10. You won't find it in the original manuals, but it's in the online manual.

    All the best...

Save the instrument under a second name. Now you can stack it.

say if you have a drum set and you want to seperate the outputs to channels
just stack it and use stack properites and route to out 2 and so on...

I dig. Just so you know, there is also a channel offset in the editor that works on a per-region basis. You could set each kit component to its own channel offset and save the .gig, thereby automating the routing process. It would then be done for you when you load the patch. No stacking required!
