    Dreamers

This tune is based on the title track from John Lennon's Imagine album.

I'm using GPO, JABB and SampleTank.

The bass is too loud. I couldn't hear the piano midrange at the beginning.
The guitars sound really fake and were too loud when they came in.

Sorry to sound so harsh but with a little remixing it could be nice.

I thought the piece was a respectful tribute. Very reminiscent of "imagine" and well executed. I didn't think the bass was too loud at all... the Piano's mids came through fine for me. The guitars were a little shocking, yes... but realistic in a Toto-esque sort of way that shook it up a bit just like Lennon would have liked.

    I think this worked

I wanted the bass to have a strong presence, sort of reminiscent of the 60s power trios. Yes, I can hear a bit more melodic guitar but it was as close to what I wanted as was available to me. I don't use electric guitars enough to warrant a dedicated library.

    Thanks for the listen

Thanks for the positive comments. That guitar is the only one in SampleTank that has enough badness to it.

The switch is almost painful isn't it.

Very nice piece you have presented here, thoughtful, complete and uncluttered. Nice rendering and instrument selections. A very nice tribute indeed. Thanks for sharing it with the forum.

    Re: Dreamers

    Well, thank you Gary.

I was trying to be a little experimental with it like Lennon was and I also wanted to keep it tasteful.

Originally the chorus was going to be more an orchestral effort like Phil Spector(Imagines co-producer) created but I thought a heavy guitar sound would be more honest and more John Lennon.

A fascinating distillation of some of the essences
of "Imagine", Phil. I don't think I've heard anything
quite like this done, before... a darned interesting
approach, and I much enjoyed the listen.
