    Two Excerpts Feat. Stradivari

Here are two wonderfully titled excerpts featuring the Garritan Stradivari:

Quiet Strings (formerly Test2) is a pianissimo passage (all GPO and Strad)

Action (formerly Test) is a significantly louder passage (various libs.; feat. Strad)

These are of course works in progress.

I will get my website up and running someday... until then please bear with Soundclick (http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=659943)

    All comments welcome.

    Thanks!

EDIT: Still lame names, but mildly more descriptive

Oy, Fishbein, you have reached a high level of realism! These sound good. You are a talented and creative composer.

Both of these tests sound very good. I'm impressed with your presentation. It does sound very realistic. The louder mp3 was excellent in the rhythmic structure and the soft mp3 was gentle and in control. Very, Very Nice

It's probably the onbard sound card on the computer I'm using right now, but the strad solo near the end of the loud mp3 was a too little reverby for my taste, but than this sound card does not do any music justice. When I get a chance I will listen again on my good audio pc system and let you know their is any difference. I did, however sound like the strad had a different reverb setting than the rest of the group.

Thanks for such a delightful listen!

Thank you for listening. I'll give serious thought to titles when publishing.

Thanks for the listen. I'm glad you enjoyed these.

There are indeed different reverbs. Most of the samples in this excerpt come from GPO (and Strad), but a few are from EWSO; and the biggest problem I have with this library is the built in reverb. I haven't done any scientific experimenting (yet) to match convolution reverb on GPO to EWSO's built in reverb. My ultimate goal is to remove the release trails and add my own reverb, as I do with GPO's dry samples.

And now that I think about it, I think I gave it a different reverb than GPO too, to bring it further forward in the mix. But if it sounds like it's in a different space altogether, that's not so good...

    Impressive, Fish!

    Loved the Action cut, the writing in it, too;
top-drawer material, I am most definitely
looking forward to hearing more on this one.

    Keep it coming!

Thank you. I love working with the Strad. Everytime I sit down, I want to play and write for it. Just an amazing sounding instrument.
