    Subtle piano sound discovery

I know most of you have been doing this for years and already know this. I'm new and discovering new things. I had been trying to achieve the subtle toned-down piano that Thomas Newman, for instance, uses in many of his sound track pieces. I kept trying to clamp down the tone of the Bos. 290 but it was still too dynamic a sound. Today I loaded the small piano sample from KH Emerald, cut off all the high frequencies, and added a bunch of reverb. Eureka! It's almost a perfect match. Great for soft ballads.

Is this a distant micing or close? (Emerald is a symphonic collection?

Could you post a link to an mp3 that you've done to illustrate what you've found?

I just loaded the sample in GS3, no Giga Pulse, just reverb. And cut the high frequencies way down. You could, of course, place it more distant with Giga Pulse.
