    Piece for Flute and Piano

    Hi everyone

I've been so busy the last couple of months and this entire winter I've managed to complete only one little piece. I've been working on this piece for quite some time now and I finally feel that it can be listened to. This is the lovely GPO flute and GPO Steinway.

I've written this piece for a very kind flautist friend of mine. I hope you can enjoy it.

The music is here. If you want to follow the score, which is not yet fully completed, you can get it here.

    Thank you for listening .
    Kind Regards

    Terrific work, Louis!

And welcome back to the forums.

Not in a musical style I'm too familiar with, however I can recognize the technical proficiency....clean and precise!

The Flute sounds great!, But I'll admit I'm even more impressed with your piano chops.

    What a wonderful duo.

    Excellent work!

    Louis,
I enjoyed every minute of it. Love language, structure and verity of textures of the piece. The end is a bit sudden.
I'd increase volume of the mp3.

Louis, I admire this tremendously--Thank you so much for it. The composition is captivating, and the execution is wonderfully realized.

sfiks's comment about raising the volume is one I agree with. If you have a program tool that can raise the general volume of your tracks, it would be of benefit to both you and your listeners.

    Thank you again!

PS--Despite the light nature of what I've posted on this board so far (Gilbert and Sullivan, light jazz version of "Auld Lang Syne" and the "Perry Mason" theme song)--I enjoy a broad range of music, and impressionist pieces I often final especially magical, such as yours.

    Welcome back Louis.

This is a delightful duet, I enjoyed the strong motivic development, and the ravishing beauty of the harmony.

You have done an outstanding job on the flute rendering, it sounds wonderful.

    Superb writing.

Louis, your friend is a lucky man, this is a great flute/piano piece, I have played flute chamber music for years and I think I can identify a good piece...
    bravo!

    Bravo!

    Louis, this is new and deeply lustrous language from you;
rich and rewarding at every turn; elegant and formal, yet
enticing and opulent in its harmonies. The motivic
development in this is superb, and the sense of the
piece... always the element of surprise, but coupled
with a satisfying inevitability -- including the irrevocable
    cessation that firmly completes it.

My friend, it is a pleasure to have you back with us
with this new music; and a personal delight for me to
    listen to it.

    With admiration,

What a surprise to find so many positive comments.

Jeff, it certainly is a departure from my usual "pretty" style. But I'm kind of enjoying taking "risks". Thanks for the listen, Jeff.

Thank you, Slava. It does kind of unwind suddenly..... but in my head it screamed for a sudden tonal resolution, which I gave it
