    Garden of Tranquility

It's been a while since I posted anything in the Listening Room. I just remembered I meant to post this one ages ago! If you follow the link you'll get the story behind this piece. The only thing I'd add is that it was performed live by the Aeolian Duo in June of this year at one of the concerts I organise here. They did a super job. David, the flautist plays with various top orchestras around the UK, as does Eira Lynn Jones, the harpist who is also the Head of Harp Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
    Hope you like it...

Hi John, Nice to see you back at NS again.

I really enjoyed your piece, beautifully rendered.
The harp writing in particular is quite magnificent.

I found the story of the genesis of this music very interesting also.

Did you mange to get a recording of the live version ??

    regards Joe

Good to see you back, John, with this lovely
meditation on tranquility. Very well done.

It's interesting to consider that such beauty
can come from such grisly beginnings... that
even the worst of circumstances can, in the
end, be transfigured into, if not goodness, at
    least... tranquility.

    My best,

    Hi Joe,

Thanks for your kind words. Sadly I didn't think to do a recording of the live performance. I haven't actually been away from NS really - just 'lurking' from time to time! Eventually bought a new dual core pc + a few other 'bits and pieces' after never really getting to the bottom of the probs with the other one, and spending (horribly insufficient) time getting to grips with it all!

Similarly David, many thanks for taking the time to listen and for your ever-insightful comments. It's amazing how resilient people are - the relatives of the victims, although they'll never really fully recover from the evil crimes of this man, have bounced back amazingly.

Best wishes to both of you and your families for the coming festive season!
(I'll be suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune in my wife's beloved homeland - France - chained to the necks of innumerable bottles of Champagne and other disgustingly fine wines & spirits, not to mention the gastronomic onslaught my poor stomach will have to endure!!)
    ah well..... c'est la vie!
