Nocturne in Sea Shark ~ Animation scored using GPO

    Dear All

here is an animation I scored earlier in the year. It was scored using GPO apart from the Tarantella (accordian and guitar). It was premiered at the St Magnus Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

    All comments welcome.

    Very nice work, Brian!

There's quite a wide range of moods/themes here... The music arrangement certainly blended perfectly.

I also enjoyed the animation as well.. but perhaps a bit long though.

    Great composition!

    I enjoyed this a lot Brian. !!

It took a long time to download, but it was worth the wait because the Image quality is pristine.

Although some of the earlier edits seemed to follow the action a little too abruptly, as the Narrative unfolded, the music seemed to find the perfect balance of leading the story and following it.

    Lovely Work.

Brian, would it be possible for a direct link to the file?

For some reason, my browser balks at an ActiveX control
    (probably others' browsers do, too)...

    Dear David

I'll look into it but I do know that it requires Quicktime 7 to run.

Ah, that explains it. I cannot use QuickTime on my
system due to system conflicts with development
    environments...

    Thanks, Brian.

    Hi Brian,

I think you did a great job in finding the moods just right. Very effective use of the piano and the Tarantella. The final waltz has per se something of a music box which fits to the subject very well.

That said I find that the strings are not so strong as the rest. One can go away with it here because it is a sort of toy world but in another context it would have been problematic. More dynamics and EQing would help.

This was great! And time well spent. Great Score for the setting and a good sense of sardonic wit all around.

Thanks you all for your comments.

For your interest, this was created using the GPO version of Sibelius (which is not frame accurate by the way and caused endless nightmares with syncronisation). Reverb was Altiverb 5.

    Season's Greetings
