    New Game Music

    http://www.sibeliusmusic.com/cgi-bin...?scoreid=89038

Some music I wrote for an RPG game. One that doesn't exist yet. One that when it eventually does go into developmental stages, people will say, yes.....that's the tune we needed. Yes. Yes, that's it.

    Ben,

This is really nice, even if it were not game music. Nice instrumentation and execution getting the most out of the GPO library.

Tubajedimr, this was just marvelous. I certainly agree, that you're making the most out of GPO. Best of luck getting a contract with a game company--they'd be fortunate to have you writing for them.

I really like this! Really draws you in - I'm ready for an adventure! The legato brass stuff seemed a bit static and less "human" but I absolutely love the rhythmic stuff with the flutes. Best of luck finding a home for it.

I like this! It's always interesting when you hear a technique that you've never really explored, just as I am now; and I'm thinking, 'I just don't do enough with pizz strings!' I like the momentum the rhythm provides.

Overall this sounds great. I agree that you could get a bit more mileage out of the mod wheel on the legato brass lines. Just a bit more implied direction in the phrase will make it sing!

There's a lot of charisma in this piece, and I hope the game company chooses it! Nice work!

    Wonderful piece once again, Ben.

But game music? You're kidding me, now, aren't you?
This work is too good to be buried under some graphical
    nightmare... rofl!

The subtle handling of rhythm in this is quite a pleasure
to hear; and the contrast with the central portion works
    like a charm.

    Nice job on it!

    Best,

What would you reccommend I do?

By the way, thanks for the fabulous comments guys, you're too kind really.

And for those comments, I did work out the brass parts in the middle. The same link should work for the new mp3.

    Do? Why, keep writing!

Re-listened this, Ben... that central brass chorale
    is nicely done.

    Very Charming music. !!
    A nice study in contrasts.
Excellent pizzicato work, and beautiful harmonies in the Brass Chorale.

A refreshing inversion of the usual routine in media music, where the Brass normally supply the rhythmic snap, and the strings offer the lush harmonies.

This is too nice for a game or ringtones or something "modern" as used today in normal life. OK, when sold to a gaming industry you have some more money to spend for making music..... but [look at Schubert, most of the time he didn't even had money to 'rent' a piano]..... what to do? Just maintain your originality and keep on writing.
