Question about Percussion libs and SAM True Strike demos

I am interested in a good percussion lib - but there is not too much out there:

VSL - too expensive at the moment
    Westgate - not yet here
BFD Percussion - interesting, but BFD only and no lib
flying hands - not yet there and more a deep and narrow lib as it looks like
    True Strike - sooo....

...... the demos, are the demos processed with lots of reverb and stuff or does the lib sound this way? Too me this sounds pretty scary - too hollywood

I am more into neutral/dry sound ala Scarbee/VSL/etc.

    Any thoughts?

    thanks

    Hi Steff,

    This is Maarten of ProjectSAM.

Our True Strike demos can be created out of the box for maybe 95%.
The only thing we applied to the demos is a bit of mastering before we converted to MP3. A cinematic sound is always the main focus of our libraries. The demos use the Stage mic position. We also offer Close mic (1-2 meters from the instrument) and far mic.

Our upcoming True Strike 2 (world & fx percussion) generally has a closer sound than True Strike 1 (symphonic percussion).

You can try the samples yourself by downloading our True Strike freebies. You can find a log in link on our main page.

    Thanks for the interest!

Listening to the microphone demos at Project SAM's might help you determine whether or not you like it or not. Although more expensive, you should check out Sonivox, whose percussion library sound's like it has less ambience.

Thanks for the anwers and the tips with the microphone demos (I overlook that section)

For SoniVox there seems not to be much info available though.... Is it a protected lib or a traditional sample lib? (It seems at least not to be a Kontakt player lib) Size, Velocity layers?

Sonicvox is here...very easy to find...
    http://www.sonivoxmi.com/ProductDeta...PercCollection

It is available for Giga and Kontact2.
There is also the London Orcestral Percussion Library.

Sam stuff is really wonderful and I use the close mics mostly but it still has the Hall ambience. Wonderful sound.
