Arrow Bombastic Movie Music with quiet ending

This is something a bit different from me.

    Bombastic Movie Music.mp3

This is from a short "Art" movie, using an Occult/Horror theme.

I have been a bit harsh on this forum, in the past, about Movie Music. But having tried this little excursion, and having been extremely hampered for time, I take it all back.

The writing doesnt take too long, but the rendering, is very labour intensive. I managed between 2.30 and 3 minutes a day. No doubt this can get quicker with practise.

Libraries used are GPO, VSL K2, and SAM solo sessions for Brass.

After 2 years of Chamber Music, it is fun to play with the Orchestra again.

    Holy cow!

    Joe, this is excellent!

Superb color and mood control in this... and
    compositionally damned interesting work.

You sure you want to stick this behind
celluloid? I've listened to this several times,
and it's well armored to stand on its own.

I don't have your gift for translating music
into insightful comment, so I'll leave it at...

    Bravo!

    Hi Joe,

I'm impressed! Definitely set a foreboding, surrealistic mood, especially with your expertly-chosen instrumentation (I really like the -- here's a technical musical term for you -- "tinkle-ly stuff"). Bass flute solo at the end? An unexpected but very fitting surprise with that, leading us to the end. I truly enjoyed this well-done piece of music!

This is wonderful... The brass work is incredible; so expressive and powerful.
Your balance with the soft wind interludes gives interest and suspense... didn't know what was going to happen next... Also great original ending to this type of work.

It's certainly appropriate music for our Halloween over here in the states.

Nice writing and orchestration, Joe. It is different for you, but I like it.

My gosh, this was a surprise not the usual joaz at all.

But for film this was scrumptuous. Your mixing/production was fantastic and that bass flute and bass (?) clarinet really put in a signature touch.

    Wow!

    Very impressive.

A departure from your familiar style.

Far more imaginative than most soundtracks i've heard!

But I've always believed highly skilled artists can easily cross between styles/genres.

    Terrific!

Looking forward to hearing more movie works!

Excellent work. I would much prefer to hear this in my horror/action movies instead of the usual tripe! Some very interesting sounds towards the middle that I can't even identify (a repeating little high pitched explosion in the background).

Loved all the harmonies and textures. What is the very last sound in the piece behind the flute? It sounds familiar to me, but I can't place it.
