Expression volume pedal to replace mod Wheel

    Hello

I search a way to transform my expression pedal that send a cc07 Volume message to replace the modwheel cc01 default setting for volume. I use Cubase, i know that there is a input transformer fonction, but i also use Live and would like to resolve the problem in both prg. I also know that there is a Sonar plugin but i dont use Sonar.

    Thanks !

    Thomas,

I don't know about Cubase but in energyXT you can use several tools to route the cc information to another channel. As they are vsti's they could also be used in Cubase eventually.

    Look for MungRack here
    http://www.asseca.com/nicfit/mungrack.html

    or nf_cc2cc here

    http://www.asseca.com/nicfit/cc2cc.html

I think I have also seen some tools for this at the Garritan hompepage in the support area.

I use my foot pedal for playing the brightness control in realtime with GPO. But pssst ... don't tell anybody because this is my secret weapon ...

    EDIT
BTW there is a great collection of MIDI tools at these pages:

Markleford created a CC Map MIDI-FX plugin. You should be able to use it in Cubase through a wrapper provided by Steinberg.

    Thanks for the ideas guys

Fisrt solution, they are a vst plugin and Live and Cubase dont allow two vst plugin on the same track so it dont work

Second solution, i have to buy the vst wrapper and if i can find a free solution i will try to avoid to pay for this.

    Keep searching....

Maybe you can re-program your keyboard. On mine I can assign whichever CC#number to the pedals and it isn't even a very sophisticated one (Oberheim MC1000 - a muted keyboard only sending midi signals).

MIDI-Ox is free and can (I think) map controllers. You can insert it between your keyboard and Cubase by routing the MIDI data through MIDI-Yoke.

Maybe I misunderstand your problem, but it seems to me that there is an easy solution. I had a similar problem with my WX5 (Yamaha wind controller) which can send various controller signals, but not cc1.

The solution was to download the X-custom version of the instruments. They can be made to use any incoming controller signal instead of the mod wheel.

It's quite easy to do. The download is free, and doesn't mess up anything else.

I've posted the details in another thread: "How to use WX5 wind controller to edit modulation data?" on the Tips, Techniques & Tutorials sub-forum. (You would use cc7 where I've used cc2.)

    Hope this helps.
