Exclamation Anyone know how to build a local network?

    Hi all,

So heres what i wanna do. I have 2 pcs and a mac. My main DAW is a pc but i do a lot of sound design on the mac as well. I m tired of swapping usb keys or prortable HDs between the machines so i wanna build a local network where i can then exchange files between the machines.

Does anyone know of a really simple way of doing so?

I do have an extra pc around somewhere which i could turn into an actual hardware server for the studio but i would have no idea how to hook them up...

any suggestions are appreciated of course.

    thanks,
    sascha

You don't need a server; Just a hub\switch and network cables. All your machines have NICs?

I don't know anything about Macs, so will let someone else jump in for the configuration...

I have 2 Macs and my PC all connected via a Motorola WR850G router. I turn on Windows Filesharing on my Mac, so the PC can see the Mac volumes, and exchange files between systems that way.

Really simple to setup - just get yourself a decent router (or hub/switch if you're not connecting to the Internet) and you're all set.
