    Bach - Fantasia in C-Minor

    This Bach organ work, Fantasia in C-Minor, is one of his more somber works for this type. And yet composed around the same time as his more well know Fantasia in G-Major. Here I have set it for two different brass ensembles;

    Brass Quartet (2T, 2T)

    Low Brass Quintet (3E, 2T)

    The works were produced using Finale 2006 and GPO.

    Great stuff Gary! I think I prefer the low setting best as it seems to suit the sombre mood.

    I'd love to hear BWV 537 too if you get 'round to it! Bach in C minor sends a shivver up my spine!!

    Regards, Graham

    Hi Graham,

    I am pleased that you enjoyed the transcriptions. The low brass transcription has been performed at Eastman by the Tuba Mirum ensemble.

    BWV 537 you say. Please visit my forum posting to hear it for large brass ensemble;

    Nice work on this, Gary.

    Once again, I was pleasantly surprised to overwhelmingly
    prefer the sonorities of the low brass. Very skillfully done.

    I am glad that you found my BWV537 to your liking. It was a blast to produce. And the live performance is equally as exciting. There are many more on my web page.

    Thanks for your comments David. It is amazing how appealing the low brass can be. And it is as true in the live performance of this piece. The GPO really selected some fine instruments to fill this critical spot in the overall library.
