    groovy kind of love

    Hi Folks,

I wasn't going to post this since it's rather off-topic, but I guess a few people are wondering if I'm still alive ;-) well yes, but just not writing much. This is an orchestration of A Groovy Kind of Love, the version we all know.

GPO is used for strings and some very subtle brass.

    here is the link:

.. I hope you like it folks.

Hoping all is well with my fellow GPO'ers,

    Best,
    John

PS - other patches: solo oboe and flute from Dan Dean solo ww lite, cymbals+percusion from LOP, Yamaha drum set from DrumSeries 1, Piano is my trusty Roland VE-RD1.

Nice job on this, John... a lovely arrangement of this
song that surely brings out the best in it.

And by gosh, yes it is nice to know you're still alive,
my friend -- we were about to send out the troops
to find you, you know... lol.

    Welcome home!

    John 'awksley, John 'awksley!,

This is just great. I liked it from the opening oboe to the final drum punctuation. Thanks for posting it and don't stay away so long ever again.

Hi everyone! It's nice to be back and to see you all :-)

I'm really glad you liked it; I tried to keep it simple with this one, since the original is very restrained and sensitive. It was a very hard thing to do, to reign in my tendency to over-orchestrate... there were many places where I wanted to add lots more brass, more percussion, synth string patches... more more more... :-)

@Jon - I'm going to mail you separately - suffice to say the world cup was an interesting experience ;-)

Thanks again everyone! Hopefully some original stuff will be forthcoming (reinstalling the Giga PC at the moment! :-O

    All the best all,
    -John

A great job of arranging. I found myself trying to remember the really irritating background that came with the original. Good ridance.

    Hi Gary + jrjnsn,

Thanks very much for listening and taking time to reply - much appreciated. Can't really go wrong with this piece, provided one doesn't let the orchestration get too big :-)

    Thanks again!
