Heiller: Valet will ich dir geben - GPO organ and Finale 2006

Did a quick version of this piece with the GPO organ...

Anton Heiller, Valet will ich dir geben:

    http://evensongmusic.net/audio/heiller/HeillerValet.mp3

This chorale tune is more commonly known in English-speaking countries as the Palm Sunday tune "All Glory, Laud and Honor"

Heiller was a respected Bach scholar and interpreter in his day, but is lesser known for his compositions (which is sad - they are quite fine!) I've been exploring them of late and thought you all might enjoy hearing another one from off of the beaten path

    Cheerio,

    Johnathon,

I am familiar with the hymn tune. Of course this is a different setting of it. However, it is very nicely done with the GPO organ. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Dang, but you come up with the goods, Jonathan.
A really interesting setting... I've listened through
    this several times.

You got this out of the GPO organ? I gotta go
look at that again... excellent rendering and
    voicing.

Then again, you know what you're doing... lol.

    David,

There are a number of organs in the GPO. Probably mixing them. That is what I did for some of mine as well.

    Heh...

Ah jus' uses what ah have at my disposal....

The actual registration calls for organ flutes 8 and 4 or 8 and 2 against a "soft 4' reed" I had to play the cornet an octave higher to get the same effect, but hey, one can cheat when using virtual instruments LOL

I try NEVER to do things ordinary... it's so boring

Thanks for the kind words, my friend!

    Jon,
Another happy customer here. This is wonderful and the rendering almost haunting. I wouldn't call it cheating - more more like creative exploitation of available resources.

    Heh....

    Glad you liked it, Bill

No, it's not really cheating.... creative organists have maximized their resources for YEARS by playing stops at different octaves to expand the available sounds... it's quite common, actually
