    Icarus in Flight

    Hi all. I am looking for some constructive feedback on an atonal piece that I recently completed. ' Icarus in Flight ' attempts to convey the flight (and descent) of Icarus.

    Any thoughts for improvement would be most appreciated!
    The file can be heard (with or without downloading it) here:

    Many thanks,

    Re: Icarus in Flight

    I like this piece a lot, even though I had Mr. Icarus in my sights for the subject of a future work, and will now have to scrap it!

    Very nice sonorities. Powerful and expressive. I like the woodwind work especially. Beautiful and scary.

    There is some very noticeable distortion in the recording you might want to try and smooth out. It seems worst at 0:28, 1:45, and 3:54. You may be overloading individual instances of GPO or another softsynth.

    Thanks, I will try to see if I can limit or get rid of the distortion. Many thanks for the feedback!

    John, you need to kick levels back somewhere to kill
    that distortion, as mentioned, of course.

    The piece?

    Dynamite writing on this, both figuratively and sometimes
    literally.

    Pieces in styles like this often degenerate into confusion;
    but this is cohesive, impactful, expressive -- it makes
    sense to the mind and carries a formidable emotive punch.

    An excellent composition! Eminently successful.

    I enjoy atonal works a la Schoenberg very much, and I really love your piece. Can't wait to hear more!!
