Cubase SL3 with GS3 on new PC trouble!

Help! I was running this combo fine on my old PC. Just upgraded to new PC, and Gigastudio won't even start up without crashing the PC with BSOD. Even as a standalone it's crashing before it starts. So I uninstalled GS and suddenly everything is fine - Cubase starts flawlessly.

Then re-installed GS3, and same problem occurs. So here is the new PC specs - I just can't figure out what the problem is:

    Dual pentium D 3ghz
    ASUS P5LD2
    Win XP sp2
    Soundcard = Edirol UA-25
    250GB Seagate Barracuda
    300GB Seagate Barracuda
    4GB DDR RAM (533 non-ECC)

    Any ideas?

Was your last PC also a dual-core machine?

What version of Giga are you trying to launch?

If you haven't installed the latest version (3.12, available for download from the TASCAM website), you should do so -- that got rid of many (though not all) of my initial BSoDs, which I believe came from trying to launch the version that came on the factory DVDs on a dual core machine...

    Good luck!!

Ah - I'll try downloading the update then...

No - last machine was not dual-core.

The update appears to have fixed the problem. However, now no MIDI signal is being received in Cubase. Very bizarre!

    Oh no - you're joking?!

I've just sent my PC back to have a new motherboard popped in. Anyway, as mentioned I fixed the Giga problem by the update patch to 3.12. Just having problems getting any MIDI into the PC - for some reason, although Edirol soundcard comes up in the ASIO driver bit in Cubase, it doesn't appear as a MIDI input....

I've always used Seagate drives, and have never had any trouble.

    Hi Bill,
    good for you.
any of them newer drives say the last yr?
there is something in the firmware of the seagate drives that cause this.
(of course you wont read that in any FAQ on Giga's site.)

its especially evident when using a seagate as an OS.
