    The Gafradalasha String Quartet

The name comes from a discussion in the chatroom, though I must admit the name has little to do with the piece. I was trying to write the piece within ten minutes, but of course I could not do that; though it did end up taking not much longer than an hour. However, I did cheat in a couple ways. Firstly, all the themes had already been written by me about a year ago, sitting and waiting in my melody vault. Secondly, the piece lacks sophistication, like many of my early pieces, and I added hardly any dynamics. I hope to revisit this piece when the Garritan sonic morphing string quartet is available , but until then I hope you enjoy what it sounds like now:

    nice work Sean!

I admit i was reminded of Pachelbel's Canon at the beginning.

But you have some very nice modern harmonics which makes it quite unique.

    Nice arrangement!

Thank you! I can certainly not deny the influence of Pachelbel's Canon, which has actually influenced quite a few of my pieces.

    Sean,

Nice work. It would be interesting to hear it after the "sonic morphing" is applied to it.

    Sean,

Very nice - especially the "sha" part of it

I liked the obligato and it is reminiscent of Pachelbel's celebrated canon.

Just a suggestion, try putting a harpsichord in to fill it in and also try doubling the bass line an octave lower to give it more balance.

This was enjoyable to listen to. thanks for posting it.

Thanks Gary, I appreciate your comments! Those are great suggestions, I hope to give them a try. A harpsichord would make a great addition if I can get it right.

Sean, we hear too little from your pen. This is lovely work!
And some first-rate writing in the process.

    Most enjoyable!

Thumbs up Re: The Gafradalasha String Quartet

Sean, I'm certain that you can make a great piece with this little idea.

YES! refine it to a finished (even if short, then not too much hard to develop) work, and let us hear the results. We are waiting for it!

Thank you! Of course, without you, this piece would just be Gafralasha.
