4th of July Contest - Win a Marching Band Library!

    Music Contest

This coming weekend is Independence Day. People in the USA will be celebrating with parades, fireworks, barbeques and festivities. To add to the celebration let's do some music and have a contest.

Last year's contest was a lot of fun. Last year there were 16 entries with Joaz from the UK winning the prize (and Joaz produced some very outstanding music with his prize).

Submit a short MP3 appropriate for Independence Day. It could be a patriotic piece, original work, or other appropriate music you may have already submitted. The work must use GPO, JABB, Strad or GOS.

The winning entry will win the upcoming Marching Band library. There's probably no music more patriotic than American Marching Band music. We'll end the contest on July 10th.

I am looking forward to hearing your 4th of July music.

    Few questions!

    1) Where do we submit to?

    2) Is appropriateness decided by the composer? There could be many interpretations of the term, depending on viewpoint and opinion Just saying.

Is orchestration/transcription of existing pieces acceptable? That's what I got from the description, but I wasn't sure - and if so, how are these judged compared to original works?

The works should be in the public domain (e.g. traditional Americana) or be original. They will be judged equally by a vote of the forum members.

    1. Who do we submit the music to?
    2. Can you send me the marching percussion patches (at least bass drums, toms, snares, cymbals, and tenors) for this? It will...er, enhance the march.

Cool! I look forward to listening to the entries! I hope I'll have time to compose an entry myself... I have some melodies which I think would fit very well. Whew, is it almost the 4th of July already?
