    Gigout - Toccata

The "Toccata" is one of Eugene Gigout's most well known works for organ. This wonderful work brings to bear the full forces of the performing instrument as well as the dexterity of the performer, a total fireworks show.

This arrangement on Toccata is set for orchestra, with the nimble strings and winds covering the dazzling rapid passages, the brass adding accents and strength and the low instruments providing the pedal voice.

Yes it is. And very different from the original organ work. I have recently posted here in the form the Grand Chorus In Dialogue that I arranged for double trombone choir and organ. Check it out.

    Thanks for your comments.

DPDAN, LouiseD, Jun, Gigalove, Ern and David,

Wow the whole gang showed up Thanks for you comments.
Some years ago I had the wonderful privilage of attending a concert given by Virgil Fox about a year before he died. The Toccata was his signature closer which he performed brilliantly on the huge Rogers organ. At the end, just before the last chord, he would always do this full pedalboard glissando, and then shake the rafters with the final chord. It was so exciting!

I am just glad that I found a way to "perform" the Toccata my own way and I am soooooo glad that you enjoyed it
