    ALTIVERB for WINDOWS IS HERE!

This was posted on the Audio Ease forum.

Two months late, but very healthy: Altiverb for Windows XP (VST - RTAS) releases today.

The Windows version of Altiverb 5 comes with the same impulse responses, and sounds identical. At this point the pre-processor (the software that makes impulse responses) is not yet available for Windows. Also, surround output has not been implemented in this Windows release, nor are sample rates higher than 96 kHz.

Altiverb 5.4 for Windows XP is a free download for registered Altiverb 5 users.
Today, May 30, Altiverb for Windows XP has been released (both VST and RTAS versions). If you are a registered Altiverb 5 user, you can download and install it. If you have an ilok dongle, the Windows version will run on that too. If you want to transfer your challenge/response protection from your Mac to your PC, let us know and we'll make it happen.

Altiverb Mac 5.4 required for IR downloads.
We have made Max OS X-Windows XP cross platform installers for al our impulse responses. Also many incompatibilities between Windows XP and filenames in our IR set have been fixed. The file format for the IR's had to be adapted as well. The free 5.4 Altiverb upgrade is the first Mac version that is able to read the new format (It reads the older formats as well). So if you plan on downloading IR's, go get that version from:

Altiverb 5.4 Mac also contains a number of fixes, check the Altiverb version history for this.

    Cheers,

Wow... I had written this one off as "will never happen." Time to start saving my pennies again.

What's Altiverb compared to Waves IR-1? Is it better? Worse? Whatever the case, what's up with it?

    Hi Craig,

I have not used Waves IR-1 but Altiverb's selection of IR's is excellent.
The user interface is second to none, and the ability to simply move a sound anywhere on the stage you want is nothing short of remarkable. Those french horns sound a little too close?... move them back a smidgeon.
Check www.audioease.com and spend a little time looking at the video demos.

I have my own custom wav sounds that are automatically triggered after changing any setting in the GUI, if I want.
