Using SATA and PATA on the same system

I just got an Intel D915PBL board and it looks like it only allows for one IDE cable. So if I add an SATA drive to go along with the PATA drive, can the OS run on the PATA drive and use the SATA drive for storage?

I'm also hoping there will be no problems with the Intel 925 chipset using a Tascam 822 PCI or an AP2496.

I don't know about that specific motherboard, but I run both on one of my PCs with no trouble. 1 IDE HD, 1 IDE DVD, and 4 SATA HDs working fine.

So is your OS running on the IDE or SATA?

My OS is on the IDE drive. The SATA drives hold sample libraries.

On my main DAW I have a pata drive ( partitioned) for OS and my other software. The rest are all sata drives including the Raptors.

    Works like a charm
