    Arrow Biblical Musical Instruments?

Anyone knows where to find samples of biblical musical instruments or similiar? Preferably free.

(Check out http://www.rakkav.com/kdhinc/pages/instruments.htm if you want to know what I mean.)

    Thanx Bo.

I´m afraid I cant afford anything right now.

Maybe one can find similiar sounds for free somewhere? I`m thinking of simple horns, trumpets, frame drum (tof), psaltery.

Maybe Herman Witkam has a clue?

    Re: Biblical Musical Instruments?

Doru Malaia (R.I.P.)'s "230 Ethnic Drums and Percussions" DVD collects 6,400 "one-shot" samples, and presents them as lots and lots and lots of tiny .wav files.

The DVD is $29, which places it firmly within reach of even those of us with empty pockets.

Mine arrived today, less than a week after I placed my order. The "daf" folder contains 64 different one-shots. While playing these sounds won't be as expressive as the daf sounds that you'll get on RA, or Voices of Istanbul (or, perhaps, Ilio's "Origins" or Sonic Implants' "Silk Road"), you can't really argue with the price.

If you go to DM's website, you can download 30 "ethnic drum" one-shots, to get an idea of what you'll find on that DVD:

If you find any good freebies, please come back and tell the rest of us!!

Thanx alot for the tip, Alanb. Ethnic percussionsounds I do have quite alot of, that maybe will work instead of authentic biblical percussion. Will tell you if I find some nice freebies!

Herman Witkam, I knew you were the right person to mention in this thread! Thank You! Will try the link out.. Btw, on your site Mr Witkam, do you think any of your rare instruments can be used to imitate the sound of the ancient biblical instruments?

Sure - the Midwinterhorn and Rag Dhun horns sound close to ancient horns (they are ancient in origin), the Mijwiz sounds close to early reed instruments, some of the whistles sound much like early whistles and so on...
