Unhappy Eastwest Professional XP Gold - not enough RAM

Does anyone know why Eastwest Professional XP Gold (the orchestral samples) won't load above 2.5 GB RAM of samples? I have 4.5 GB RAM in my Mac and I can load as much with any other samples but not with Eastwest. Any ideas?

    Any ideas?
Is it an NI Kompakt player issue?

No - eastwest pro xp is it's own sampler/software package - you do not need to convert samples with Kontakt or Mach Five.

But isn't it based on Kompakt (not konktakt) player - so the same engine ???

Yeah it is the Kompakt engine. When you say you can load more with "other samples", can I ask which samples they are? And are you playing them via gigastudio? or Kontakt?

You could also consider using the DFD extension to the EWQL Gold Kompakt player, and loading samples via DFD instead of directly to RAM. This'll let you load a lot more stuff at once, but can be a little more taxing and sometimes kinda buggy.

Sure...it's the Native Instruments player... Have you asked at either the EW or NI forums about it?

The answer is in the release samples. These samples essentially double the amount of buffer ram needed to play an instrument.
    Joy!

Hey Dude, check carefully as to how much of other samples you can load. There has always been a 2G limit (all inclusive) for any one application.

OSX 10.4 (I think 10.3 also) is supposed to allow 4G of useage but I have not found that to be true.

I have loaded over 2G but thing can get strange.

For instance, Zebra2 loses oscillators if I have over 2G of Ram in use.

Atmosphere has taken me over the limit before (with the EWQL orchestra).

And I had a project recently that had EWQL, Atmosphere, other synths, EW choirs and DFHS would not load on the next time I opened it.

The 2G limit has been broken but I don't think all of the plugs play it the same way.

NI does very well. I can load over 2G if only loading EWQL.

What application are you using that allows you to load 4.5 G of samples?

I'd like to know about it!!
