Much much more material and higher quality on CD libraries.

The SRX cards are only 8-bit companded technology too. They still sound good, but not at the quality of the original recordings like the CD-ROM libraries have.

Some SRX stuff is not available on CD-ROM though....

I could be wrong, but I heard the newer strings-only card is not derived from the Roland sample CD's.

Speaking of which... I wish Roland would re-release the old sample CD series, man some of those sound really great. Roland probably owns them right? So we can't beg Eric to release them

That's correct. Those were done in Poland with Siedleczek after my time.

    Hey Eric,

I remember seeing in a catalogue ages ago a roland sample cd with orchestral percussion, of which it mentioned some of it was recorded in a multi story car park, among other ambiences. Did you work on that?
Do you have any idea were those original samplecd's might be found?
I heard there are some newer collections that take portions of the old cd's; but I'm much more interested in the originals...

    Cheers,

    Joris

ps: does the same go for stuff like the SRV and SDE 330, on which I believe you worked too? I would love to have those in software!!!!

Actually you can find many impulsereponses of the SRV330 on the net.
Although these are probably missing the chorus part of the original.
