    No Signal or Meter Movement

I've upgraded ny PC and I'm in the process of getting everything sorted back out. I transferred all my samples including the GPO samples to my new PC. I installed GPO and on startup it asked me for the location of my samples which I gave it. I can load samples and control the keyboard with my MIDI controller, but I'm not getting any sound or even seeing anything on the meter at the right even with the volume knob turned to +12 dB. Could this have anything to do with installing and pointing to the samples or do I have something simpler that I'm overlooking. Thanks for any ideas anyone might have.

Did the reinstall also have you re-register the player?

Yes, I did re-register the player. If i could see a signal on the meter and not hear it I would think I just don't have my outputs or sound card set correctly. But since I'm not seeing anything on the meter I wonder if it's something else.

Re: No Signal or Meter Movement

Yeah, I was wondering if it just didn't have access to the sample content itself for some reason. You'll probably even see the meter moving even if CC#1 is all the way down at zero.

Okay, try going into the "Options" menu and selecting a new path for the samples directory. If the path doesn't have the right files, it will give an error:

No suitable contentfile was found at the selected location!

You might want to move the ".nks" files to a new directory first, just to be sure. (you can move them back after)

Okay, a few other "just to make sure" questions...

    1) When you play notes from your keyboard that you should be hearing, do you see the keys on the virtual keyboard are moving as well? If not, perhaps the note data is simply not reaching GPO.

    2) When you're playing a note that should be heard, does the polyphony count readout on the GUI change? (it's the box with the little eigth notes and the "0 / 6" or somesuch number (indicating current / max samples playing)).

    3) Do it make sound if you click directly on the virtual keyboard?

Re: No Signal or Meter Movement

Well thanks for the help. It turns out that my MIDI controller was sending on channel 5 and the the visual keyboard in the GPO player responded to that channel but the samples did not. As soon as I changed the MIDI channel on my controller to 1 the meter started moving and it was easy to set the outputs to get the sound. It just threw me that the keyboard was showing MIDI activity while I actually had it set to the wrong channel. Silly me. Thanks for taking the time to help me, your suggestion helped me narrow down the issue.

Hooray for the easy (but no less embarassing!) fixes!

    Have fun,
