    Beginner GPO Kontakt question

    Hello,

I am a hobbyist who owns GPO and just got Kontakt. I have a couple of real basic questions that I hope someone may answer for me.

    1) I use Sonar, what is better to use for plug in:
    Dxi or VST - why?

    2) Is there anything to be gained by loading the GPO instruments into Kontakt instead of opening directly in Sonar as a Dxi? - What are the implications? I read that if you open GPO in Kontakt you loose the programming that is built in. If this is true why would you want to do it this way? - Does it load faster? Does it take fewer resources?

I'm sorry if these questions have been answered, but the search function on this forum will not let me search on the words VST or Dxi.

Thank you for your time and opinions

    1. VST, because there is a bug in DXi that seems permanent. It is a problem involving a change of tempo on a note that is playing. Seems like there are other issues, but I am not sure. If the tempo bug does not affect your specific piece, then it may occasionally be advantageous to use both DXi and VSt with different parameters. I would never need to to this, and stick entirely with VSt. VSt allows bounce to audio directly, saving time and omitting noises.DXi might also, but let someone else verify it. When you bounce to audio, it seems to be a bad idea to use fast bounce, the default. This omits notes and passages randomly.

    2. I can not find any advantage unless you are using other sound sources with GPO. Then, there may be an advantage. Otherwise, seems to me that you are adding one more layer between you and the sound of music.
