    Low Memory Warning In Overture/GPO

    First, here's my ride:

    P4 2.4GHz
    200GB Hard Drive
    2GB DDR Memory
SoundBlaster X-Fi ExtremeMusic sound card with latest updates

    Now here's the problem:

I'm running Overture 4.0.2.3(latest) using Garritan as a VST. Ever since I installed the X-Fi card, I would get this warning from GPO: "memory is getting low. This may cause dropouts or other artefacts." This happens as the GPO VST's are loading when I open a project file. But I still have tons of memory available, even after loading a large orchestral project file with lots of samples. Never happened before. Any other X-Fi card users out there who have had this problem?

Could be a false warning message. Use the ctrl-alt-delete system monitor to see what is actually happening to the RAM usage. Do you find any real limitation to how much you can load following the warning? If not, ignore it.

Thanks for the idea. What should I look for in the System Monitor?

Go to the "performance" tab. It will display available and committed memory. You can watch as you load instruments and see what *really* is available - apart from any bogus warning messages.
