    Help...Really Need Swirls, Jazz Drums...

Does anyone know any library out there that will let me do easy going snare swirls and brushes and sound convincing? I had Perfect Brushes but no go...I believe there are a number of sets out there with them...

Anyone know the very best out there right now?

    Thanks

    Tom,

Tom Hopkins recently posted a tutorial on how to do brush stirs with JABB.

Here is a .pdf tutorial file for creating brush snare drum stirs:

Thanks Gary, the brushes on your demo sound perfect what I need to do. I will call on Monday!

I went to the site and their demos do not show any swirls, though the brushes sound excellent, like all their stuff. Anyone know any demos of the swirls for C&V?

I do like Gary's approach of being independant of tempo....

    Thanks

BTW- just to throw a wrnech in the proceedings- I had a project about two years ago that required stirred brushes and I had no samples of any kind to do it. But I did have a snare. I didn't have any brushes and didn't have the time or inclination to buy them so I played the snare with a paint brush (miced with a 57, of course). The client (a clarinet player) thought the track sounded awesome.

So, this might not be a viable answer for you but I think sometimes we loose sight of the fact that some of this stuff you can actually use real sounds and get good results. It could save you some $$$ and the results will be natural.

I've been programming some jazz ballads with JABB's brush kit recently... best I've ever used. Totally convincing, in my opinion. Worth the $249 just for these drums.

I once saw a drummer do something similar with two hairbrushes on a brown paper bag. True story!

I always shy away from claiming to be the only one doing something - *anything* - a particular way (it's the old, "There's nothing new under the sun" principle) but I am certainly unaware of any other library that has used or is using the approach I developed for brush stirs. It is my favorite feature in the JABB library.

Tom is being his usual modest self. The JABB brush kit stir approach is another Hopkins original.
