    High Turnout in Iraqi Election

    ***Advertisments***
No matter what you feel about the war, this is "hopefully" good news...

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/mid...st/4531904.stm

I wonder how many of us would vote if it meant you had to dip your finger in indelible ink...and thus mark yourself for kidnapping, murder, or rape?

As I heard somewhere on TV last (Daily Show?): "Hell, we don't turn out when it's raining".

How do we know the U.S. didn't PAY to have this news released? How do we know what's real and what's Memorex these days?

Who, by the way, is counting the ballots?

    It's all a ridiculous sham.

Even if it isn't, that seems weak compared to 30,000 dead Iraqis - by Bush's own admission.

Didn't they use that very same photo after the last "election?"

They still have a long way to go. But they've got a good start.

    Nick,
I totally agree and am not trying to rationalize the invasion in any way. I just hope the Iraqis are able to "thread the needle" and avoid a civil war...and the fact that there was not widespread violence yesterday was a hopeful sign.
