help in achieving a realistic timpani roll pls?

    Hi folks,

I'm fairly new to GPO, but have been looking thru the tutorials & other resources, but I'm still having trouble in working out how to make a realistic sounding timpani roll.

I have this programmed in cubase. I have a 16th notes playing for a bar & have drawn a curved line for the velocity so it increases to full by the end of the bar. I've tried doing the roll on alternating left/right hand samples & also using just one - but in both cases it doesn't sound right...

it's always tricky to describe these sorts of problems, but the best description would probably be that i'm almost getting the 'machine-gun' effect that can be quite common in other types of sampled drum patterns

any ideas how I could improve things here pls?

    thx

    V
