    Over the Rainbow

this is my "Over the Rainbow" blog, with a link to the mp3 & full score:

I've decided to keep a blog for each new piece I do.

Thanks to people who contributed to that string quartet thread; it helped a lot.

I'd appreciate comments, esp on the mix-- I think I've been working on this for too long to listen to it objectively.

Thumbs up Re: Over the Rainbow

Very nice! I too watched it the other night. I have to admit after musically directing the play I did not like the beginning although I used it for underscore here and there.
I think you mix is just fine. Class A!

thanks, styxx. i listened to your "MunkinLand Intro"-- very cool!

Do you know the song, "The Jitterbug"? It was cut from the film, but I have a recording that was released commercially, kind of cute, and shows Judy Garland's "jazzy" side.

The pleasure was all mine listening to yours.
Yeah, I have a video clip of them dancing the number. It is pretty cool. I have several other numbers from the play programmed and would love to share them with you if you wish.
The Wizard of Oz was my final musical before taking hiatus for a while. You brought back fantastic, wonderful memories of last years rehearsals and performances.

    Nigam-

Very good arrangement! It's different, well thought out and performed flawlessly. Only suggestion I would make is to 'verb the bejesus out of it. I'm kind of a verb freak, but these old showtunes really need some space. The Ambience plug-in is great to throw on right before you bounce.

Keep up the good, hard work!!

    Best,

    Scott

    Nigam,
This is amazing work. I am very intrigued with your project and following it closely. Your mix is superb. Some very good GPO solo string work, too. Probably the best I've heard.

I enjoyed this a lot. Very interesting and unique arrangement with wonderful use of strings in the higher registers.
