    Stradivari Solo Violin TOO perfect?

I've been listening to Stradivari Solo demos. Yes, they are impressive compared to any solo violin sample library!
But something is missing to my ears: The playing is TOO CLEAN! The violin emits squeaks and scratches even in the hands of the best violinist.
Perhaps you should add a "squeak generator" when developing the player?
Remember the legendary "Guitar fret noise" from General Midi set?

    Good point.
I'm a cellist and I finally found the key to not getting any more scratches or squeaks. It's all in the bow hold. You have to have a very loose grip on the bow...VERY loose.
But still they come out, probably easier for them to come out on a violin than a cello, so this is a good idea. Sometimes a little scritch, scratch, or squeak is wanted by the composer.

I personally miss the heavy breathing that goes along with playing.

And the occasional "Oh sh*t! F sharp not F natural!"

I'd like to see those triggered with high 127 velocity strikes. MAybe even full-on dog-like panting with a 128+ velocity. but then again that would require you to bundle a hammer with the DVDs...

Just brainstorming to make the library sound more real.

LOL, when was the last time you heard Itzak Perlman "squeeking and scratching" on his violin (when he wasn't intentionally doing it)?

Please, better to not! I am so happy to hear pure sound! Anyway, I believe, there might be a "squeaks and scratches library" in the future, so you can defect the sound at your own taste

Thumbs up Re: Stradivari Solo Violin TOO perfect?

Being Italian, I had some interesting conversation with the creators of the Stradivari engine, Giorgio Tommasini and Stefano Lucato.

I suggested a noise addiction, beside other opinions about the demos.

It seems that I'm not alone in this idea. But maybe it's not necessary to add too much mixing tools, if the final release will be expressive enough.

I tell you more about my contact...

    I'm very surprised:
I had the chance to know Giorgio and Stefano in Germany, but Stefano lives 2km far from my home!

Giorgio and Stefano are very kind, and they will let me know about the project progress, and share some opinion live.

The last refinement still in progress is very impressive IMO. Now some demos are very clean and with a little or far sound: it's only an artistic choice, because the library is able to produce a close, huge and dirty sound if requested. It's just a matter of real time play, mixing, and controllers use.

Can't wait for the final release!

    Stradivari Solo Violin TOO perfect?

If it's too perfect - then we can't have an updates. And we do have updates planned.
