I am considering the purchase of a Sonoma notebook (2 GHz, 2gb memory, 60gb 7,200 rpm HD) primarily for use as a portable sample player using Kontakt 2. Although it will be used in the main for providing small-scale chamber instrument backing to guitar/vocal tracks, clearly the installed drive has fairly limited sample storage capacity, particularly when it comes to considering some of the higher quality libraries.
Is it feasible to use an external hard drive (FW400/USB2) for library storage/sample streaming in this situation? If so, are there any obvious pitfalls to avoid and do you guys have particular recommendations?

Thanks for your help.
