Solo woodwinds - library of choice?

I've got nearly all the libraries at the cheaper end of the market - GPO, Kirk Hunter Emerald, and I've also got EWQLSO Gold which I love, but I'm not quite satisfied with the solo woodwind in any of these libraries. Obviously it's when instruments have little accompaniment that their sampled nature is most likely to become apparent, and I'm finding this most problematic with the woodwind. Is VSL really the only solution?

The old site for the Westgate woodwinds no longer exists. Does anyone have the current link, or have the products been withdrawn?

I've got this lib and I'm very happy with it - especially for the price!

I get some terrific results with Westgate, at least IMO. They are a bit limited, especially compared to VSL but what they do they do well and at a great proce. They have a full, sort of gritty sound that seems to blend into other libs well.

Considering what you already possess VSL is probably the only option that would really make sense for you..
The Westgate woodwinds sound great, but I'm not sure that they would really offer you anything really new beyond what you already have.

How are you finding Emerald so far? From what I've been able to hear the woodwinds seem to be one of the strong points of the library.

Yes, VSL woodwinds are quite amazing. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, buy Opus 1. Oh, and buy the Horizon Series French Oboe, because the Opus 1 Viennese oboe is horrible (my opinion, of course).

EWQLSO, Stacc. VSL legato, SISS just plain gorgious.

Westgate okay. Miroslav pretty good. Dean Dean very good under certain circumstances.

For your money though I'd buy VSL. Between VSL and EW you'll do quite nice. Then if you have money to burn buy SISS.

I would hold off until at least early November so you can hear for yourself what QLegato for Gold Pro XP will offer (since you already own Gold.)
