Mahler: Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen III

    Hi,

Here is a mockup of Mahler's song:
    Ich hab' ein glühend Messer
#3 of "Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen" (there are 4 of them).

This is the original score for large orchestra, the voice part being "sung" by the solo Eb piccolo clarinet.

This was done with GPO Full and Finale 2006 Mac (pbook 1.33 / 2Gb of RAM) with Human Playback (style=Romantic). No MIDI tweaking whatsoever, just straight from the notation.

I hope you'll appreciate this extraordinary music! You'll notice interesting dissonances that a real voice doesn't normally emphasize so much (because of the timbre contrast).

I can post the pdf or Finale score file if you wish. The orchestration is pure genius.

    Cheers
    Robert

Mahler's music is a play of little details, that is in evidence with the rendition, I agree.

the only think I feel to improve is the imitation of softer and mellow sound of real instruments in solo part, that HP sometime still keep too hard or mechanic.

This is absolutely amazing. The rendering is beyond convincing. I love Mahler and this is played as Mahler should be. When will you take on Das Lied von der Erde? Great job!

Very impressive! Sounded like being in the same room with a real orchestra. The great variety of percussion and muted brass were quite convincing. The choice of clarinet for human voice works great.

Incredible!!! The Finale/HP combination keeps getting better and better all the time.

Now that I have the tools, all I need is to be able to write like Mahler.

    Robert,

Amazing! Excellent work! It is hard to believe the performances that can be done entirely from notation. Your ingenoius Human Playback has made this possible.

Thanks for posting this. And please do post the Finale score.

Well, I didn't do anything but setting Mahler's score as is! I think we have to thank the old Viennese master alone for having created such great music. (well, it's true that I have also created HP, but I don't think there is any comparison possible between a tool and a piece of art).

I will post the Finale file soon.
