Ravel's String Quartet using VSL Solo Strings

I am proud to share my latest midi mockup-- the second movement of Ravel's String Quartet in F major. I think it's my most expressive sampled performance to date. It uses the VSL Solo Strings exclusively for all the strings sounds and the Wizooverb W2 for the reverb.

    I hope you enjoy it.

    Best,
    Jay

Terrific interpretation. As for realism of samples: the violas aren't as convincing as the violins, except oddly in slower passages. The pizzacati are pretty damn good! Totally convincing in several sections. Sometimes the vibrato is too predictable, although I doubt that can be controlled. Trills are totally convincing.

Oh, and I didn't even notice the verb, which means of course that it's excellent.

This is as "realistic" sounding as anything else I've heard here! Excellent job!

(I miss the harmonics, though. Too bad VSL doesn't include them...)

Wow that sounds simply fantastic! looks like if I ever want to do a mochup of one my string quartets I should be getting VSL Solo strings.
Very Realistic sounding, very expressive, must have been a ton of work
    All I can Say is...HA!...HA!...HAAAAAAA!!!!!

I'd say this mock-up definitely has me looking at VSL solo strings. Very well realized. String music, particularly solo string music is, to me, some of the hardest to sample, period.

    Agan, well done.

    Absolutely gorgeous! Bravo!
Quite apart from the brilliant musicality, from the technical side I'm particularly impressed by the legato work, and especially the portamenti.. very convincing! :-)

Wonderful! You actually made me forget that I was listening to a sampled performance. OK now, when do we get the other movements?

You are definitely THE master of midi mockups. Wonderful. Though not perfect, yet ... it is still too placid, somehow, the 4 personalities don't show through, maybe because there is only one personality programming.

Out of curiosity, do you work solely from a score, or do you use a reference recording of real players?
