They deserve it (eventhough I am a Red Sox fan.)

Look like the Astros will make it into the fall classic, too.

That'll be a battle of pitching. Should be good.

As a Cub's fan, its not nearly the same as the almost, only 5 outs away in '03, but as a native born Chicagoan, it really is a big deal. The Fall Classic drout is over!

In 1959, the fire chief set the alarms blasting all over the city, which freaked a lot of people out, or so they tell me...

Some outstanding defense by the Sox. Everytime the Angels smacked a ball, there seemed to be a White Sox standing in the exact right spot.
    Good luck to em.

    Congrats Chisox!!!

I have been a Houston Astros fan for 30+ years so believe me when I tell you this:
As of this writing, the Astros are up 3-1 on the Cards and a game tommorow night at home to clinch. Given 30 years of rooting for professional spots in Houston, I say good luck to the Sox against the Cards. Yes, the 'Stros are too close not to blow it again...
It starts tonight with a loss at home - and day's rest and regroup for Cards, and then a two game sweep at home with Roger Clemens the losing pitcher in game 7 - again.
(I hate it when they torment me like this)

That's correct, Ern. Though their BA was more like .250, they only hit 97 home runs that year. In 1959:

    1) Eisenhower was in the White House
    2) Humankind first saw the dark side of the moon, from the Soviet space probe Luna 2
    3) Ozzie and Harriet was the USA's top-rated TV show
    4) The Barbie Doll made her debut.
    5) Castro reached Havana, Batista left town
    6) Weird Al Yankovic checked in
    7) Billy Holiday and Frank Lloyd Wright moved on
    8) Women gained the right to vote in Nepal
    9) Elvis was in the Army
    10) A World Series game was last played in the city of Chicago

Can't I be wrong about anything - just once?

As a long suffering Cubs fan, the answer is NO YOU CAN'T!

But as a person, I'd say you can. Just do not EVER let Pujols beat you. You cannot pitch to Albert Pujols. You have to pitch around him, and Phil Garner has got to know that.

    Re: GO GO WHITE SOX!

My family moved to the Chicago area in '59 (I was three.) The White Sox game I will always remember was a night game. Unforgettable because I was lost for seven innings after a trip to the rest room. Somehow found everyone near the end of the game.

This year's team is absolutely great. I will be surprised if they don't win easily. One would never think that way with the Cubs. They could have the greatest team ever and one's nails would be bitten completely off before the series began.
