Help with Midi between two boxes... HELP

    Hi all,

I recently got a set up which has a laptop daw running Sonar 4 with an RME Multiface box as a sound interface, and a 2nd machine for a giga-only box which has the RME HDSP 3296 PCI card. I have the midi connected like this:

Midi Out from the Daw goes into the Midi In of the Gigabox.

My keyboard goes into the Midi In of the Multiface.

Somehow I think I have something messed up. I want to have the Giga Midi ports show up in my latop. Would I need to take the MIDI out from the Giga box into the MIDI in in my DAW? But then, how do I use the keyboard?

    Help with this?

    Thanks very much!

Re: Help with Midi between two boxes... HELP

Okay so, somehow I have midi signal! I hit the keyboard and giga's keyboard lights up. Also, I get signal from the Hammerfall mixer in my gigabox. But, when I plug my headphones into the "Phones" jack of the gigabox's soundcard, I get no sound. And, when I plug into the DAW's multiface, I also get no sound.

Any advice for this? What am I missing?

    Thanks!

    Glad we could help...

(Actually, I frequently find that by simply trying to describe a problem in a way that will be understood by someone else, I discover the solution - once again showing that the question contains the seeds of its answer.)
